What is a Medical Cannabis Caregiver?
A medical cannabis caregiver is an individual that provides basic assistance to a medical cannabis patient; namely, helping patient(s) obtain and administer their medicine.
Under Ohio law, designated caregivers are authorized to purchase medical cannabis product for the registered patient(s) whom they are a caregiver from a state-licensed dispensary.

CHOOSING A CAREGIVER
A caregiver is a person who can buy, transport, possess and administrate medical cannabis to a registered medical marijuana patient.
This person is designated by the patient to care for their needs. This can be a parent, guardian, nurse, spouse or any applicable significant other.
Note: Patients under the age of 18 are required to have a parent or legal representative serve as their caregiver.

How Do I Become A Medical Marijuana Caregiver in Ohio?
The process for becoming and/or adding a registered caregiver is simple!
You can now submit your own Caregiver Registration application directly to the state board!

& Pay State Fee to Activate Card
All patients and caregivers must pay an activation fee to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy in order to activate their MMCP card. The sign-up link will be sent via the email address provided in the Caregiver Application.
OHIO BOARD OF PHARMACY ACTIVATION FEES
All patients and caregivers in Ohio's Medical Marijuana Control Program must pay an annual registration fee to the State in order to activate their MMCP ID.

Registry
Identification Cards
All patients and caregivers wishing to obtain medical marijuana must receive a state-issued medical marijuana patient ID card.

Caregiver
Eligibility
Individuals 21 and older can serve as a caregiver for no more than two medical marijuana patients. Each patient can have up to two caregivers.

Patient & Caregiver Registration
The recommending physician, or a physician delegate, must submit the caregiver and patient's name to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy medical marijuana patient and caregiver registry following their recommendation for medical marijuana.
